Koil Alwar Tirumanjanam held at Srivari Temple ahead of auspicious Vaikunta Ekadasi Festival

Koil Alwar (Holy Shrine) Tirumanjanam (cleansing with aromatic ingredient) was held as a foreword to the Vaikunta Ekadasi festival at Tirumala Srivari Temple on Tuesday. The Koil Alwar Tirumanjanam ceremony will be performed strictly as per Agama Sastras and  four times a year at the  Tirumala Srivari Temple on the preceding Tuesday ahead of Ugadi, Vaikunta Ekadasi, Annual Brahmotsavams and Anivarasthanam.

The Vaikunta Ekadasi festival will be celebrated on January 2 at Tirumala. On this occasion the temple cleansing rituals was carried out as prescribed in the Vikhanasa Agama Sastra texts at the sacred adobe of Lord Venkateswara on Tuesday Morning.

The main diety ,other processional dieties and sub dieties are provided with a water proof cover. Later a herbal paste ingredients combined with a rich mixture of sandalwood powder , refined camphor, saffron turmeric, Kicchill Gadda ( a root vegetable) and aromatic flavours were applied to entire Garbha Griham, floors, walls and pillars inside sanctum santorum along with sub shrines inside the main temple. Special poojas will be performed and Naivedyams are offered.

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Executive Officer Anil Kumar Singhal, Additional EO V Veerabrahmam, CVSO D Narasimha Kishore, other temple officials and priests took part in this cleansing program.
