Tirumala Temple

Tirumala Lord Venkateshwara temple has ample literary and greatest epigraphic testimonies. Great dynasties have paid great homage to Tirumala Temple in ancient times. After their period Raghoji Bhonsole of Maratha visited Tirumala Temple and has set up a permanent endowment for worshipping Lord Venkateshwara. He also presented various rich offerings like gifts, valuable jewels, large emerald to the temple. Even now we can find the emerald box preserved under the name of Raghoji Bhonsole. During the period of their rulings, Mysore Kings and Gadwal rulers also have endowed large offerings to the temple.

Bangaru Vakili

The temple administration was under the control of Mahants and number of estates was entrusted to Sri Seva Dossji of Hatiramji Mutt of Tirumala. After their period, Madras Legislature passed a special act that empowered Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams committee to take a complete control and administer a fixed group of temples in Tirupati and Tirumala area under their supervision of a commissioner appointed by the government. After a certain period of time, this act was replaced by an enactment that Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams was entrusted to a Board of Trustees and Executive officer which was appointed by the Government and all the provisions were retained by Charitable and Religious Endowments Act.
