Sri Swayambhu Varasiddhi Vinayaka Swamy Temple is an ancient temple located in a small village named Kanipakam, Chittoor District of Andhra Pradesh. This temple was built during the regime of the Vijayanagara Empire. Initially, this village was named as KaniParakam.  Later it was changed as Kanipakam.

Swayambhu Sri Varasiddhi Vinayaka,Kanipakam
Kani means Wetland and Pakam means the flow of water. According to the legend of the temple, There are three brothers who are handicapped, one was blind, one was deaf and one was dumb. They are cultivating a small piece of land as it is their main living and earning source.

Earlier for cultivation, they are using Piccota System for field irrigation. When their well dried up, they dug another well but they are unable to dig at a particular level due to hitting of ironstones. Suddenly they noticed that the blood is oozing from the ironstone all the three lost their deformities and they were stunned with that incident.

The Villagers were also amazed to see that the three brothers lost their deformities as they startled by this divine sight of Lord Ganesha. They planned to deepen the well to see the origin of the blood. Finally, they noticed that the water has emerged from the Lord Vinayakas Idol and they named Lord Ganesha as Swayambhu Varasiddhi Vinayaka. They believe that the Lord will make all wishes come true.

Only a small portion of Lord Ganesha was visible so the villagers tried to dig some more level but all their efforts are useless. Another striking and Strange feature over the years is that the size of the Lord Ganesha Idol is increasing and even they noticed this fact that the Original Kavacham which was offered 50 years ago for the Lord Ganesha is no longer fits it. Nowadays we can see the Knees and Abdomen portion of Lord Ganesha and we can notice some portion of the Lord Ganesha in the well, though and water can also be seen today also.

The locality of this temple is very clean and peaceful. Pilgrims can feel the memorable and spiritual experience after the Darshan of Lord Ganesha. The Holy water is given to Devotees as Swamy Theertham. Lord Ganesha Idol is also called as the up-holder of the Truth. Before taking oath People will take a dip in the Swamy Pushkarini and then they will appear before the Lord. Here in Kanipakam, all the disputes are resolved by taking a special oath from the people.
